Stylist Benjamin Raine paid homage to the legacy of hair stylist John Steinberg at the Western Harbour Castle Award Show, presenting the John Steinberg Community Service award. Benjamin, the owner of John Steinberg and Associates salon, shared a remarkable journey with John, a legendary hair stylist and mentor, since their introduction in 2003. For nearly a decade, their collaboration flourished before they pursued separate career paths.

On August 31, 2011, John Steinberg passed away, entrusting Benjamin with his scissors and the responsibility to carry on the legacy. More than a decade later, following the challenges of the pandemic, Benjamin returned to John Steinberg and Associates with a steadfast commitment to rebuild the salon and fulfill John’s wishes.

This milestone event also marked the one-year anniversary of Benjamin’s pivotal decision to return to the salon, underscoring a significant turning point in his professional trajectory. The John Steinberg Community Service award, bearing the salon’s namesake, is an annual acknowledgment bestowed upon a hair professional or salon exemplifying exceptional commitment to community enrichment through fundraising or events.

This year’s award went to the Aveda Institute of Winnipeg, recognizing their exceptional commitment to community betterment. The Institute’s impactful gesture of donating 125 haircuts to underprivileged women stood out, promoting self-esteem and raising awareness about the challenges they face.

Marking the one-year anniversary of Benjamin’s return to the salon, the John Steinberg Community Service award is an annual accolade for salons exemplifying outstanding commitment to community enrichment. Established in 1991, the salon continues to honor John’s legacy under Benjamin Raine’s leadership, offering a warm and welcoming experience.
