The way that I survived the lockdown was really by going inward. My goal was to find myself and my own values and come back to what I felt was truly important. When this whole lockdown started, aside from the initial shock, there were a lot of emotions surrounding who I was and my own self worth as a person. I had to connect with who I am, aside from being a business owner, a business woman, a teacher, and an artist.
When those things were taken away from me, I was faced with myself in the purest form. I had to really face my own self value and where that stood, and my own self love in the midst of all the chaos. So, I started meditating, sound healing, doing breathwork, anything that could bring me to a place of positivity. Once I had come back to myself, I was in a place where I could return to my craft with a new mindset.
I did renovations to the shop, painted, and made the environment a more positive one. To pivot our business, we were able to offer online training for microblading and powder brows, which also kept me busy and gave me some purpose. Since our business is one that really has to be done in person, we also tried to focus more on sales of our retail products. Most importantly, I tried to stay patient and stay connected with my following on Instagram. I stayed very honest and transparent with my followers, and that’s what really helped me get through some dark times, to know we’re not alone in this.”
